Did the Italian Goverment get burned paying $4.2 million
for a fake Micheleangelo wooden model of a cruxifix?

The Italian goverment recenntly state spent $4.2 million, in 2008 to buy a small wooden crucifix attributed to M from the Turin antiques dealer Giancarlo Gallino who bought it from a Floritine family 10 years ago.

Imho, I believe it is a fake for the following reasons

  • Compare the above pictures. The clay Michelangelo model in the German museum looks like a person who died on the cross whereas the wooden model looks like he's sleeping with his head just slumpted on the cross.
